Dr. Michael Zieder
Owner, DVM, MRCVS
Dr. Michael Zieder, the owner of our Care Center, has been involved with the profession for over 47 years. He began his career in New Jersey as a kennel assistant, worked as a veterinary technician, and has been a practicing Veterinarian for the last 33 plus years. Dr. Zieder received his Animal Science degree from Cook College, Rutgers University, and his professional degree from the University of Liverpool, England. He is a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and he has extensive experience in animal behavior and training. Dr. Zieder is also a Certified Guide Dog Instructor. He enjoys the challenge of diagnostics, internal medicine, surgery, and dentistry. Dr. Zieder has been practicing in the Rockaway area for the last 30 years which has given him a great appreciation and insight as to the needs of our surrounding communities.
Dr. Elena McComas
BVMS
Dr. McComas earned her B.S. in Biology from the College of St. Elizabeth in 2004 and later traveled to Scotland to complete her veterinary degree (B.V.M.S.) at the University of Glasgow in 2012. A proud lifelong New Jersey resident, she has a special passion for helping pets manage pain. She combines Laser Therapy and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine with Western medical care to create well-rounded treatment plans. She also holds an acupuncture certification from the Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida, and enjoys incorporating herbal and food therapies when they can benefit her patients.
At home, Dr. McComas and her husband, Tim, stay busy with their daughter, son, and their three pets—cats Fig and Kitney, and their dog JoJo, who always keeps things lively. When she has downtime, Dr. McComas loves baking, listening to music, spending time outdoors, and gardening.
